Ingredients
- 8 oz spinach
- 1 egg
- ½ teaspoon white pepper
- 2 tablespoons butter, melted
- ½ cup fresh milk
- 1 tablespoon onion, chopped
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ cup breadcrumbs
- ½ cup flour
- ½ teaspoon baking powder
- Oil, for deep frying
Instructions
Wash the spinach leaves after removing the stems, and chop finely.
Beat the egg in a mixing bowl. Add the onion, melted butter, and chopped spinach. Sift in the flour, breadcrumbs, salt, and baking powder, and blend well.
Add some milk to make the mixture just firm enough to drop from a spoon. Heat oil for deep frying in a suitable skillet or frying pan.
Drop the mixture into the hot fat by the spoonful, and cook until golden brown. Drain briefly and serve hot.
